When I said 'bacteria' I really meant single-celled organism.

I meant to make two terms:

1) one to cover the growth of single celled organisms, prior to 
division, for organisms whose research community considers that that 
kind of growth is part of development
2) one to cover the growth of single celled organisms, prior to 
division, for organisms whose research community considers that that 
kind of growth is _not_ part of development
