[ 1228979 ] metamorphosis terms

Hi,

An interesting problem has developed at:
[ 1228979 ] metamorphosis terms
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1228979&group_id=36855&atid=440764

In a nutshell:

Russ and I are trying to adjust the slightly old-fashioned 'x metamorphosis'
terms and replace them with 'x morphogenesis' terms.

definiton summaries:

'x morphogenesis'
def: morphogenesis processes by which x is made.

'x metamorphosis'
def: morphogenesis processes by which x changes into a,b and c.

I suggested that we should replace

'x metamorphosis'
def: morphogenesis processes by which x changes into a,b and c.

with new terms:

'x morphogenesis'
'a morphogensis'
'b morphogensis'
'c morphogensis'

But Russ is explaining that Drosophila biology doesn't work like that. He says
they just study the morphogenesis of the 'discs', where 'x disc' develops into
the mature a, b and c structures. He says it would be really hard to annotate to

'a morphogensis'
'b morphogensis'
'c morphogensis'

since the development of a, b and c are inextricably linked and overlap a lot.

We'd appreciate any ideas that anyone has on how to deal with this. The recent
comments on the sourceforge items are the interesting ones.

Thanks,

Jen
