I just spotted that on the annotations download page
http://www.geneontology.org/GO.current.annotations.shtml
....the column heading "submission date" does not reflect the date that 
the data provider last submitted annotations.

For pombe the last update was in late August but the data given is
November 24th. This appears to be because this is the date that the file 
was last touched (i.e to remove obsolete annotations) in the CVS 
directory. As a user I would expect this file to reflect the last date 
the annotations were updated by the data provider. Otherwise there is no 
way to know whether a resource is actively updating annotations.

What do others think this date should reflect?
