Hello everyone,

Usually this would mean that someone has been looking for John on the  
web.

In our case however, it means that Google has offered John a new  
position, where he will start on December 1st.

In the mean time John is helping to find his replacement, and I've  
told him that the new person must meet  a high standard. He will also  
make sure that he leaves us with a stable release so that there is  
time for the new person to come up to speed. Amelia, Seth, and Chris  
are all familiar with the code, so we won't be without any  
assistance. Mostly, I think we will simply miss John, for who can  
compose custom posters, newsletters, or lyrics for the GOC like he  
can  (perhaps one of the requirements for the replacement is a side  
interest in comedy).

So we must, after 7 wonderful years, bid John a sad adieu and watch  
him ride off into the sunset (he does live in Colorado after all). If  
we had to lose him, at least it is to a worthy opponent.
