Hi Emily,

We at dictyBase do essentially what Val does. We verify the  
annotations by running InterPro and Pfam analyses, and upgrade to ISS  
with our own reference if we can confirm the annotation. We also use  
the SF annotation tracker Val described if an annotation is wrong,  
too broad, not granular enough or absent.
