Dear GO,
The most recent monthly report on ontology content, for July 2008, is now
available at:
http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Jul2008_report
Ontology development highlights from July:
* Several of us met and came up with a plan to improve what GO has for
processes affecting cellular components
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Cellular_component_processes).
* Work is in progress on another round of term additions for PAMGO
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Category:Content_PAMGO).
* As a result of the work on the peptidase/protease activity terms in
the function ontology, the planned obsoletion of many terms has been
announced (http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Proteases).
* Work continues on transcription and transcription factors
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Transcription).
* We're seeking comments on the draft of a detailed announcement about
'regulates' links between MF and BP
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/FP-regulates-GOfriends-email).
* The overhaul of signal transduction process terms continues
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Signaling).
* There's been considerable progress on taxon links for GO terms
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Taxon-GO_Implementation_April_2008_onwards#July_18th).
As noted in recent months, the function-process work will continue, as will the
signaling overhaul, taxon links, and quality control work connected with the
regulation terms. In August, we plan to finish the peptidase work, and
carry on with the work on cellular component processes.
As usual, details of small- and medium-scale changes are available in the
SourceForge Curator Requests tracker. Please contact us if you want to help out
with ontology work in a particular area, or if you have any comments or
questions about what's going on.
