Dear GO,

The proposal has been made to obsolete

formaldehyde dehydrogenase (glutathione) activity ; GO:0004327

Annotations to GO:0004327 exist as listed below:

  	DB	total
  	GeneDB_Spombe	3 (2 ISS, 1 IC)
  	CGD	1 (IEA)
  	FB	3 (2 IDA, 1 TAS)
  	GOA_human	1 (TAS)
  	RGD	1 (IDA)
  	SGD	1 (IDA)
  	TAIR	3 (all IDA)
  	tigr_Psyringae	1 (ISS)
  	tigr_Spomeroyi	2 (ISS)
 	WB	1 (NAS)
 	ZFIN	1 (IDA)

The reason for obsoleting this term is that it was derived from
an EC entry (1.2.1.1) that has since been split into two entries.
Terms suggested for annotation updates correspond to the two
"replacement" EC entries:

   S-(hydroxymethyl)glutathione dehydrogenase activity ; GO:0051903
 	(EC:1.1.1.284)
   S-(hydroxymethyl)glutathione synthase activity ; GO:0051907
 	(EC:4.4.1.22)

This term is in the prokaryote subset, but not in any GO slims maintained
in the gene_ontology_write.obo file. It is also mapped to
UM-BBD_enzymeID:e0028, which is itself obsolete.

*** Unless objections are received by May 27,
we will assume that you agree to this change. ***

Thanks,
Midori
