[Go] Ontology development - October highlights

Dear GO,

The most recent monthly report on ontology content, for October 2008, is

The biggest things that happened last month, of course, were the 
GO Consortium and SAB meetings in Montreal. You can see the ontology 
development items on the agendas, and minutes will be forthcoming soon.

Ontology development highlights from October:

   * New term additions for PAMGO have been completed 
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Category:Content_PAMGO).

   * Once again, we've made lots of progress on several ongoing efforts:

 	* Processes involved in cellular component organization 
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Cellular_component_processes);

         * Overhaul of signal transduction process terms 
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Signaling);

         * Taxon-based "triggers" for annotation quality control (previously 
referred to as "taxon links") for GO terms 
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Taxon-GO_Implementation_April_2008_onwards#July_18th);

         * Function-process links for electron transport and metabolic pathways 
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Function-Process_Links);

         * Quality control work connected with the regulation terms and for 
terms with more than one part_of parent 
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Ontology_Quality_Control).

All of these were presented at the Montreal meetings, and we'll continue 
working on them in November.
