Dear GO,
The most recent monthly report on ontology content, for August 2008, is
now available at:
http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Aug2008_report
Ontology development highlights from August:
* We've wrapped up the work on the peptidase/protease activity terms in
the function ontology (http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Proteases).
* The detailed announcement about 'regulates' links between MF and BP
has gone out to the GO Friends list. The links will be added in February
(see http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/FP-regulates-GOfriends-email
or the list archive).
* We've made lots of progress on several ongoing efforts:
* New term additions for PAMGO
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Category:Content_PAMGO).
* Transcription and transcription factors
* Overhaul of signal transduction process terms
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Signaling).
* Taxon-based "triggers" for annotation quality control
(previously referred to as "taxon links") for GO terms
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Taxon-GO_Implementation_April_2008_onwards#July_18th).
* Function-process links for electron transport and metabolic
pathways (http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Function-Process_Links)
* Quality control work connected with the regulation terms
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Ontology_Quality_Control)
All of these will continue in September. We'll also return to processes
affecting cellular components
(http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Cellular_component_processes).
As usual, details of small- and medium-scale changes are available in the
SourceForge Curator Requests tracker. Please contact us if you want to help out
with ontology work in a particular area, or if you have any comments or
questions about what's going on.
