I've heard from more than one person that this is now true for domestic 
flights in the US, but it most assuredly isn't the case for transatlantic 
flights, at least between the UK and US. We still have to stay over a 
Saturday night to get fares that are anything short of extortionate -- a 
3- or 4-fold difference is not unheard of.
