Hi all,
This is a question for anyone familiar with the tubulin folding terms in
GO.
I have used:
*GO:0007023 : post-chaperonin tubulin folding pathway*: (def=Completion
of folding of alpha- and beta-tubulin; takes place subsequent to
chaperonin-mediated partial folding; mediated by a complex of folding
cofactors.)

To map to Reactome's:

*Post-chaperonin tubulin folding pathway*

Reaction 1. *Beta-tubulin:GTP + Cofactor A → *Beta-tubulin:GTP: Cofactor
A(reversible)

Reaction 2. *Beta-tubulin(:GTP +Cofactor D → *Beta-tubulin:GTP: Cofactor
D (reversible)

Reaction 3 *Beta-tubulin:GTP: Cofactor A+ Cofactor D →
*Beta-tubulin:GTP: Cofactor D + Cofactor A (reversible)

.Reaction 4 *alpha-tubulin:GTP + Cofactor B ->
*alpha-tubulin:GTP:Cofactor B(reversible)

Reaction 5. *alpha-tubulin:GTP + Cofactor E ->
*alpha-tubulin:GTP:Cofactor E(reversible)

Reaction 6 *alpha-tubulin:GTP:Cofactor B + Cofactor E->
*alpha-tubulin:GTP:Cofactor E + Cofactor B (reversible)

Reaction 7. Beta-tubulin:GTP:Cofactor D+ alpha-tubulin:GTP:Cofactor E ->
Beta-tubulin:GTP:Cofactor D:alpha-tubulin:GTP:Cofactor E

Reaction 8. Beta-tubulin:GTP:Cofactor D:alpha-tubulin:GTP:Cofactor E +
Cofactor C->
Beta-tubulin:GTP:Cofactor D:alpha-tubulin:GTP:Cofactor E : Cofactor C

Reaction 9 .Beta-tubulin:GTP:Cofactor D:alpha-tubulin:GTP:Cofactor E :
Cofactor C->
GDP:Beta-tubulin :alpha-tubulin:GTP heterodimer +Cofactor E+ Cofactor D+
Cofactor C+ PPi

My question is about the term GO:0007021 : tubulin complex assembly :
(def= The aggregation and bonding together of alpha- and beta-tubulin to
form a tubulin heterodimer).

Is this really a process separable from *GO:0007023 *above? My
understanding of the folding process is that this actually represents
reaction #9 above or does the GO see this differently.

Thanks!
Lisa Matthews
