[Ontology-editors] historical synonyms

I'm not sure I fully understand the question, because I don't quite see 
how marking "historical" synonyms will help. If a synonym looks like it 
would cause more confusion than benefit, shouldn't it be removed or have 
its scope changed no matter when or why it was added?

(Also, in my experience the most confusing synonyms were the obsolete term 
names ...)
