Hi Jen,
I'm not sure this would work. I think it would result in massive
rearrangements. The generation of a structure certainly reflects
morphogenesis more than development, so I don't think we want to confuse
this. Many of the annotators get confused by morphogenesis, development
etc, but we have carefully defined these. We also can't do the cell
development rearrangement, because it would go against what we have been
explaining to people for years, that is, cell development is a part of
cell differentiation in GO.
I think it would be easier to separate out developmental formation of
cellular components (like the formation of a synapse) from ones that
would be a far stretch to call development (like the formation of a
pseudopod in an ameba).
